Why Certification Matters

Dog training is an unregulated industry — anyone can call themselves a trainer with no required education, certification, or professional oversight. We set a higher bar.

Godfrey's works exclusively with trainers certified through the Karen Pryor Academy, widely regarded as one of the most rigorous and science-based schools for positive dog trainers. KPA graduates must demonstrate proficiency across species — because the principles of learning apply to any living organism.

Our trainers are held accountable to continuing education and professional standards long after graduation.

Karen Pryor Academy (KPA-CTP) Rigorous, science-based certification for positive trainers
CPDT-KA Certified Council for the Certification of Professional Dog Trainers
Continuing Education Required Certified trainers commit to ongoing professional development
Client Endorsed (KPA ACE) Voluntary assurance program for highest standards of client care

Our Philosophy

We believe every dog can become an active, valued member of your family.

We use only positive, reward-based training grounded in the science of how animals learn. Our methods are built on clicker training — a technique where desirable behavior is marked with a sound, then reinforced, making that behavior more likely to be repeated.

This approach is fun, clear, and kind. It works because it communicates precisely with your dog, builds confidence, and strengthens the bond between dog and family. We never use fear, intimidation, or punishment-based techniques.

Positive & reward-based — always
Science-based clicker training principles
Fun and easily understood by dogs and families
No fear, force, or punishment-based methods
